Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation Awards

JESSIE SMITH NOYES FOUNDATION AWARD

In 1998 the Foundation initiated a $2.5 million, multi-year awards program to help sustain and strengthen long-term grantees that are making significant contributions to the social movements of which they are part. Each award, which cannot be applied for, amounts to $100,000 and is in addition to the regular support that the organization receives from the Foundation. The selection criteria include issues of leadership, finance, commitment to diversity, experience of movement building and organizational longevity. In 2003, the Board agreed to annually make at least one award until the goal of 25 is met. Due to the Foundation's economic condition, the Award was suspended in 2008.
